End of a promising stand:

Guptill ensured that the scorecard kept ticking asa he managed timely boundaries even as Ross Taylor struggled to get going at the other end. Taylor's innings eventually came to an end when he was run out for 10 off 26. A fine effort on the field by Willey, who dived to his right, collected the ball quickly and sent in an accurate throw to the 'keeper, who completed the formalities. New Zealand are 48 for 3 after 15.

Rebuilding slowly:

Guptill and Ross Taylor have gone into damage control mode, happy to rotate the strike while the former has managed a couple of boundaries off Woakes. New Zealand are 25 for 2 after 8.

Early wickets:

Colin Munro chases a Chris Woakes delivery that was wide off off stump and on a length. He look to drive it on the up buts ends up nicking it to 'keeper Jos Buttler to depart for 1. Chapman departs soon after, mistiming a pull to see David Willey hold on to a fine catch running backwards. Second wicket for Woakes as New Zealand slip to 9 for 2.

Toss and teams:

As expected, Williamson misses out and it's Tim Southee captaining New Zealand. England have won the toss and decided to bowl first. The visitors are unchanged while the hosts make two changes. Mark Chapman has been handed his maiden New Zealand ODI cap while Lockie Ferguson replaces Ish Sodhi.

Hello and welcome to the Live Blog for the second ODI between New Zealand and England at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui - a picturesque ground in New Zealand's north island, surrounded by grass banks and overlooked by an imposing volcanic cone whose summit is some 232 metres above sea level. This is an ideal setting for the two teams who showed plenty of intensity in a close battle that New Zealand won by three wickets in the last over to take a 1-0 lead.

Today, the hosts will be attempting to match their best ever run in ODIs - winning 10 successive ODIs. They might, however, have to do that without Kane Williamsonwhile England are likely to miss the services of Mark Wood. Mark Chapman, who has played ODI cricket for Hong Kong, is likely to debut for New Zealand in the absence of Williamson while Craig Overton could be handed his maiden England ODI cap.
